The Hamamatsu ORCA-Quest 2 is the first photon number resolving camera, a quantitative CMOS (qCMOS) camera that counts individual photons with EMCCD-class sensitivity and none of the EM gain uncertainty. Its 9.4MP sensor with 4.6 µm pixels reaches 0.30 e- rms read noise in ultra-quiet mode.
