The Zeiss LSM 900 is the compact member of Zeiss's current confocal line, introduced in 2019 as the successor to the LSM 800. It keeps the two-channel GaAsP detection and four-laser layout of the LSM 800 but adds Airyscan 2 with Multiplex mode, newer electronics and ZEN blue 3.x. It runs on the Axio Observer 7 inverted or Axio Imager 2 upright stand and is the system Zeiss positions for routine high-quality imaging and super-resolution without the cost of the LSM 980.

What to check before buying a used LSM 900
- Airyscan 2 license. Confirm whether SR only or SR plus 4Y Multiplex is enabled.
- Laser lines. Many systems ship with three lasers; confirm all four are present if you need 405 nm or 640 nm.
- ZEN blue license and workstation. The system should include ZEN blue 3.x, the Airyscan processing module and a workstation that meets Zeiss's GPU requirement.
- Remaining factory support. As a current model the LSM 900 can be covered by Zeiss or by a Coastal service contract; compare the two.
